Registration

See this page for information about prizes - it has the schedule too.

For information about joining or creating a team, check out this page. (Hint - for the Source-a-Thon, you need to say you want to join Team Tennessee when you post an answer in this thread to join. Once registered, you will then be given the Source-a-Thon badge and assigned a “race number.” We'll use that number to draw the random winners for the many door prizes.

How to Participate

  1. Choose a profile. It does NOT need to be a Tennessee profile.
  2. Add a good source. For more information on sources, see our Sources page.
  3. Once a valid source is placed on the profile, remove the {{Unsourced}} template or [[Category:Unsourced Profiles]] categorization, if there are any.
  4. Click the "Challenge Tracker" button at the very top of the page and choose the "Source-a-Thon" option.
  5. Move on to the next profile! Here's a handy video to help you out if you need a visual

Tip: To prevent upset colleagues, for profiles part of or managed (and sometimes PPP't) by multiple Projects or projects other then Tennessee Project, it's best to just add the source you found in a post to the profile and leave it to a project member to add it to the Bio.

Communication

During the event, we will use the Team Tennessee Chat thread for all team communications. You can also use the https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/691162/do-you-have-source-a-thon-questions if you have questions.

The Tables Are Ready!

Click one of the following links to reach a table of Unsourced profiles prepared from the database for Tennessee. You can also use the Unsourced categories to find profiles that need sources, but the tables reached through the links below have a lot more information than the Category pages show.

Whether you source a profile you found through the table or a category page, when you save the profile, there will be a button for "Challenge Tracker" at the top of the page. Click that, complete the form (add your WikiTree ID if needed, check the appropriate challenge, and describe your action), then click the "Add" button & the profile will automatically be counted toward your total in the challenge you selected.[1]

Sorry I didn't get more done, for some reason I thought the source a thon started on Saturday. I wasted over half a day cleaning house and decided to check my email, and there it was. I did stay up until 3am working on it though. It was my first time doing this..! I don't know if I did well or not. But I did contribute..!

This was a lot of fun and a learning experience, even though I didn't get too many done myself, due to family obligations. However, I was wondering if we can continue to source, even though we aren't tracking it for the source-a-thon? I did not use too many of the specifically Tennessee resources, and I would like to get some practice in doing that. Also, I found some potential errors that I would like to call attention to. Any advice, Teammates??
Félicitations from Team Acadia for all your hard work improving the tree this weekend! We had beaucoup fun trying to compete with y'all. Thanks for all you do!

Congratulations from Team Massachusetts. Together we improved over 72,000 profiles. Another great Source-a-Thon. Maybe next year we can hit 100,000. Source On by participating in the monthly Sourcerers Challenge.
